Hythe

The range is named after the town of Hythe which is on of the gems on the South Kent Coast. The word Hythe or Hithe is an old English word meaning haven or landing place. It was the central Cinque port between Hastings and Sandwich. On a clear day you can see the French Coast and this proximity is the reason for its historic defences of Martello Towers and the Royal Military Canal which runs through the town.
